MEET LAURA HAMEL
LAURA HAMEL is a DRUMMER, PERCUSSIONIST, and MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST currently living and working in NEW YORK CITY. She graduated SUMMA CUM LAUDE from BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC in Boston from which she holds a BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN MARIMBA PERFORMANCE. While at Berklee, she studied with such percussion greats as renowned marimba player Nancy Zeltsman and Boston Pops Percussionist Richard Flanagan. She is skilled across ALL FACETS OF PERCUSSION including MALLET INSTRUMENTS, TIMPANI, DRUM SET, HAND PERCUSSION, and various forms of AUXILIARY PERCUSSION.
While living in New York, she has performed at numerous theaters and clubs across the city including Broadway's famed supper club and cabaret spot FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Off Broadway's THE ELEKTRA THEATRE in Times Square, and the historic MASTER THEATER in Brooklyn to name a few. Her true passion lies with musical theatre and, in addition to becoming the "go-to" drummer and percussionist with INDIEWORKS THEATRE COMPANY, she has performed for dozens of productions from community theatre to OFF-BROADWAY.
This winter Laura will be re-joining the National Tour of A CHRISTMAS STORY as their percussionist.
